Optical Fiber – Technologist

About The Role

Optical Fiber Technologist: Investigate and evaluate optical fiber solutions for photonic packaging.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include

• Technical evaluation and measurements of novel multifiber arrangements.
• Fiber design: Simulations of fiber coupling, multimode transmission characteristics and refractive index profile optimization.
• Fiber characterization: Measure key parameters including attenuation, bandwidth, dispersion
• Cost – Performance optimization.
• Hands on preparation of fiber measurements and fiber assemblies
• Supplier Interactions: Identify, qualify, and manage key supplier relationships, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
• Collaboration: Work with systems engineering and optical packaging.
  
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of proven experience in fiber design and measurements.
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of optical fiber design, passive fiber connectivity, silicon photonics, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of fiber materials including fused silica, borosilicate and plastics.
• Modeling Software: Experience with optical simulation tools (such as RSoft, COMSOL Multiphysics, Lumerical, MATLAB, or Python-based fiber simulation libraries).
• Bachelors degree or higher in relevant technical field
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal/communication skills within the company and with partners, customers, and consultants.
